They are first Indian music director to record their music at Sony scoring studios in Hollywood for marathi movie Sairat.Ījay Gogawale has won over 9 awards for Best Male Playback Singer & The duo have won 29 accolades for Music Direction.Īpart from composing & Playback singing the distinctive duo have done many staged LIVE performances globally. Their superhit song ‘Zingaat’ from the movie Sairat was the 1st Marathi song to be recognized worldwide. Their soundtrack “Tharki Chokro” from PK released in 2014 stood out for its bawdy mix of lyrics, Rajasthani folk elements. In 2009, the composers won a National Award for Best Music Direction for Jogwa.Ījay-Atul’s fusion of folk forms with western instrumentation and pulsating rhythms breathe new life into traditional music styles. “Kombadi Palali” (Jatra, 2006) became “Chikni Chameli” (Agneepath) and “Ye Go Ye Ye Maina” (Jatra) became “Mera Naam Mary Hai” (Brothers, 2015). They have often rejigged their Marathi songs for Bollywood. They have also composed music for Bollywood Movies like Tanhaji, Panipat, Super 30, Zero, PK, Agneepath, Singham, and many more. The Duo have worked on many commercial jingles, ballets and advertisements to strengthen their profile. They started their career with non-film album "Vishwavinayaka", that proved to be a big break for them and paved the way for their foray into the Indian music industry. He also sang with fellow Garhwali enthusiast Madhuri Barthwal.Ajay-Atul are the Prominent Music Director Duo, who have created a niche in the musical arena with their exceptional music compositions and tracks. Bollywood singers including Udit Narayan, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Poornima, Suresh Wadkar, Anuradha Paudwal, Jaspal also sang in Garhwali films under his music direction. He has also given his voice in Garhwali movies such as Chakrachal, Gharjawai, and Meri Ganga Holi Ta Maima Aali. He has sung in different local languages like Garhwali, Kumaoni, Jaunsari prevailing in the state. He has sung in every genre of singing popular in Uttarakhand like " Jagar", "Mangal", "Basanti", "Khuder", "Chhopati", Chounphula and Jhumeila. He has written songs on love, sorrow, historic events, social, political and environment issue. His first album came with the title called " Burans". So he finally switched to releasing his cassettes by giving them separate titles. As these Garhwali Geetmalas were from different companies he was finding it difficult to manage them. These Geetmalas were in 10 different parts. Negi started his music career by releasing "Garhwali Geetmala". He wrote and composed his first song in 1974 after getting inspired by the hard work done by his mother and other women of the town. From his childhood he was fond of listening to traditional folk singers in various cultural events. For graduation he moved to Rampur with his cousin Ajit Singh Negi who taught him Tabla. Negi was born in Pauri town in Pauri Garhwal District (Uttarakhand) where he also completed his schooling.
